What the product does, problem by problem

Every one of these is something that goes wrong when a working listing is taken into another EU marketplace. Six of them Utlista handles today. Three it does not, and those are on this page too.

Built and running

The six it handles

Each of these runs on every listing of every run, not as an option you have to find.

Your translated title is correct, and nobody searches for it

A translator is paid to preserve your meaning. A shopper types the words their own market uses, which are frequently not the words a faithful translation produces. The listing reads perfectly and sits below everything it should be competing with.

What Utlista does

Each field is written for the destination marketplace rather than converted from the source. The German compound becomes a French phrase in French word order, not a German sentence wearing French words.

Amazon now rewrites any title over 75 characters, and may not tell you

On 27 July 2026 Amazon cut the product title limit to 75 characters including spaces, in every category except Media. Longer titles are not rejected: Amazon replaces them with an AI-generated title. Brand owners get 14 days to review the suggestion. Everyone else can have it applied with no notification at all.

What Utlista does

Seventy-five is the budget the model is given before it writes, not a ruler held up afterwards, so the title arrives inside the limit rather than being chopped at it. Anything still over is blocked out of the file.

Your backend search terms are measured in bytes, and accents cost two

Amazon budgets backend search terms in bytes rather than characters. Every accented letter in French, Spanish, Italian, Swedish and Polish costs two bytes in UTF-8, so 250 characters of French can be close to 280 bytes. Amazon drops the overflow silently. There is no error and no flag anywhere, and the keywords on the end simply never index.

What Utlista does

Search terms are measured and trimmed by byte, cutting between characters so a split letter can never land in a live listing. Over-budget terms block the export rather than being quietly truncated.

You cannot proofread a language you do not speak

The usual check on copy is reading it. Expanding into five marketplaces removes that check exactly when the volume of copy multiplies, so a bad listing and a good one look identical to the person responsible for them.

What Utlista does

Every listing is checked in code before it can enter the upload file: field lengths, required fields, whether the copy is actually in the target language, and whether it reads as localised rather than translated. Anything that fails is held back and shown to you with the reason, rather than shipped and discovered later.

Compound nouns break in both directions

German, Dutch and Swedish weld words together; French, Italian and Spanish pull them apart with prepositions. The compound is usually the search term, so a translator that splits a Dutch "keukenweegschaal" or welds a French "balance de cuisine" has destroyed the keyword while producing a sentence that reads fine.

What Utlista does

Word formation is handled per marketplace rather than per language pair. Each of the seven has its own page setting out what changes and what a translator typically gets wrong there.

Getting the copy is only half of it; it has to upload

Seller Central takes a tab separated flat file with its own column names. Copy sitting in a document, a spreadsheet or an email is still hours of manual work per marketplace, and that is where delimiters, quoting and stray characters go wrong.

What Utlista does

Every run produces one upload file per marketplace in the shape Seller Central expects. You upload it yourself, in your own account - nothing is pushed to Amazon on your behalf.

Not built

The three it does not

These are real problems that a seller expanding across the EU has, and Utlista does not solve them today. They are here so you can decide with them in view rather than discover them later.

GPSR requires your safety information in each market's language

Regulation (EU) 2023/988 has applied since 13 December 2024. Article 19 requires an online offer to clearly and visibly indicate any warning or safety information for the product. Article 9(7) requires instructions and safety information in a language easily understood by consumers, as determined by the Member State where the product is made available. Selling the same product into France, Italy and Spain therefore means that text in French, Italian and Spanish.

Not solved yet

Utlista does not handle safety or compliance text today. It writes the title, bullets, description and search terms, and nothing else. If your products carry warnings, those still have to be localised and entered separately. This is the single largest gap in the product and it is being looked at first.

Knowing what a market actually searches for

Writing in the right language and the right word order gets a listing read. Ranking for the terms with demand behind them is a separate problem, and it needs per-product search data for each marketplace rather than a general sense of the language.

Not solved yet

Not shipped. The copy is written for the destination market, but the search terms are not yet researched per product - the current seed list works by category, which is too coarse to be worth claiming. Until it is real, we do not count it as a feature.

Every field has a limit, and they are not all public

Amazon publishes field budgets per marketplace and per category inside login-gated category listing templates. The title limit is now a flat 75 across categories, but bullets, descriptions and attributes still vary in ways that are only visible from inside a Seller Central account.

Not solved yet

The title limit is verified and enforced. The bullet, description and search-term budgets in the checker are working estimates pulled from published guidance, not numbers read off a real category template for each of the seven marketplaces. They are conservative, but they are not confirmed.

GPSR is a legal obligation, and it is not ours to meet for you

Regulation (EU) 2023/988 has applied since 13 December 2024. Article 19 requires an online offer to clearly and visibly indicate any warning or safety information for the product, and Article 9(7) requires instructions and safety information in a language easily understood by consumers in the Member State where the product is made available.

Utlista writes the title, bullets, description and search terms. It does not touch safety or compliance text. If your products carry warnings, localising those remains your responsibility and is not covered by anything on this site.

By design

Three things it will not do

Not gaps - decisions.

It never uploads for you

No Amazon API access, no credentials held, nothing pushed on your behalf. You download a file and upload it in your own Seller Central account. A tool with write access to your catalogue is a tool that can damage it.

It never edits your source

The catalogue you upload is read, never written to. A run produces new copy for other marketplaces; the listing you already have is untouched.

It does not invent product facts

The copy is rewritten from what your export says. It does not add measurements, materials or claims that were not in your source, because an invented claim is a suppressed listing or worse.

Try it on ten products before deciding.
