How it works

Four steps, one upload file per country

You stay in control of the copy the whole way through. Nothing is sent to Amazon on your behalf, and nothing enters a file before you have seen it.

Step 1

Upload the export you already have

Any CSV or tab separated export from Seller Central works. Reports, then Inventory Reports, then download any listings report. It does not matter which one you pick, because the next thing you do is tell us what the columns are.

We read the file, show you the first rows exactly as the parser saw them, and ask you to confirm which column is the SKU, which is the title, which are bullets. Only SKU and title are required. If a cell looks wrong in the preview, the delimiter or quoting in the file is unusual and it is better to find that out before a run than after.

Step 2

Choose where it is going

Pick the source marketplace - the one the copy is already written for - and the marketplaces you want it written into. Every product is rewritten once per marketplace you choose.

The source cannot also be a target. Nothing is sent anywhere at this point and nothing is charged: the run is queued and you can watch it fill in.

Step 3

Each field is written for its destination

Not translated. The model is given the product, the destination marketplace and that marketplace's field budgets, and writes the title, bullets, description and search terms as that market would phrase them.

The budgets go in before the writing rather than being applied afterwards, so a title arrives inside Amazon's 75 character limit rather than being chopped at it. Word order, compounding and the everyday word rather than the dictionary word are all per marketplace.

Step 4

Read it, then download

Every listing is checked in code before it can enter a file. Anything that fails is held back and shown to you with the reason. Nothing reaches Amazon until you download the file and upload it yourself.

You can edit any listing and accept a held-back one deliberately, then rebuild the files. The export is one tab separated file per marketplace, in the shape Seller Central expects.

The quality gate

What is checked before anything can be downloaded

The usual check on copy is reading it, and expanding into five marketplaces takes that away exactly when the volume multiplies. These run in code on every listing, every run.

  • Field lengthsTitle against Amazon's 75 character limit; bullets, description and search terms against their budgets.
  • Search terms by byteMeasured in bytes rather than characters, because that is how Amazon measures them and an accented character costs two.
  • Required fieldsA listing missing a title or a SKU cannot go into a file at all.
  • Actually in the target languageA listing that came back in the source language, or half of it did, is caught rather than shipped.
  • Localised, not transliteratedCopy that reads as the source language wearing target words is flagged for you to look at.

Why a failed check blocks the file

A suppressed listing costs more than a slow one. A listing we are not confident in stays out of the upload file until you read it and say otherwise, because the alternative is finding out from Amazon.
